The first sleepover

Last night, Natalie had a sleepover for the first time. It was at her Grandma's house, so it was more of a sleepover lite. Nonetheless, it was a sleepover.

It's important because we are in the new phase of her life, where she is old enough to be doing these kinds of things. In a kinder world, she would be doing these things with her friends. In this world, she doesn't have any. In the meantime, I cling to the word Yet like it's a life preserver.

My mind went through a myriad of emotions when she left, but they eventually settled on several realizations:
  1. I have more free time tonight.
  2. What's on TV?
Actually, that's as far as my brain wandered. It saw the opportunity and seized it.
